The Best Hotels in Quebec City for Adults and Couples
Quebec City does not need to try very hard to be romantic. Cobblestone streets, 400-year-old architecture, a fortified wall around the old district, the St. Lawrence River running alongside the lower town, and enough good food and wine to make even a long weekend feel very short.
It is also genuinely one of those places that skews adult by nature. The draw is history, cuisine, walking, and atmosphere, none of which requires a waterslide (although I do love those too).
That said, some hotels lean into this more deliberately than others. Here is the hotels in Quebec City is worth knowing about if you are planning a trip and want accommodation that matches the energy of the city, but for adults
One practical note before getting into it: Quebec City is compact and extremely walkable within the historic district, so location matters a lot. Most of the properties below are in Old Quebec (Vieux-Québec), which means you are within walking distance of essentially everything worth seeing.
If you are driving, park once and leave the. Navigating the old city streets is not worth the headache.
Hôtel Le Clos Saint-Louis | Old Quebec | Adults Only Alert!
The one to lead with for anyone who specifically wants an adults-only stay, because it is the only property in Old Quebec that is genuinely that.
No guests under 18. Full stop.
It is a restored Victorian mansion on Rue Saint-Louis, a few minutes’ walk from Chateau Frontenac and the Citadel, with 18 individually decorated rooms that blend antique furnishings with modern comforts. The atmosphere sits somewhere between British restraint and French elegance, which honestly describes Quebec City itself fairly well.
Check-in is handled remotely via a keypad entrance, which is worth knowing in advance. You will receive your access code before arrival rather than checking in at a traditional front desk. Parking is available on-site but limited and requires a reservation. The location is walkable to most of what you would want to do in Old Quebec, and the Citadel and Grande Allée are both within a short stroll.

Auberge Saint-Antoine | Old Port
The benchmark for a romantic stay in Quebec City and one of the most celebrated hotels in Canada. Auberge Saint-Antoine is a member of Relais and Chateaux and holds two Michelin Keys. It sits in the Old Port, overlooking the St. Lawrence River, about a six-minute walk from Petit-Champlain.
What makes it genuinely distinctive beyond the accolades: the hotel was built on a major archaeological site, and hundreds of artefacts from both the French and English colonial periods were unearthed during construction. They are displayed throughout the property, so the hotel functions as a kind of living museum as well as a place to stay.
The 95 rooms and suites are all different, with a mix of heated floors, soaking tubs, fireplaces, private terraces, and St. Lawrence River views depending on the category. The Coteau restaurant is Michelin Guide-recognized and sources ingredients from the hotel’s own farm on Ile d’Orleans. Bar Artefact is the cocktail bar.
Note: the property was closed for an expansion from late March through early May 2026. It reopened May 8, so it should be fully operational for summer bookings.

Monsieur Jean | Old Quebec
The most visually striking boutique hotel in the city and the one that tends to make people stop scrolling. Monsieur Jean is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, with 78 rooms in Old Quebec’s historic quarter, each done in signature monochrome stripes and cobalt blue with heated floors, freestanding bathtubs, and fully equipped kitchenettes.
Le Bijou, the on-site cocktail lounge and restaurant, is intimate and well-reviewed for both its drinks and its atmosphere. There is a 24-hour gym, a private massage suite for solo or couples sessions, and a thermal circuit partnership that adds hot tubs, saunas, and river views.

Hôtel Cap Diamant | Old Quebec
A nine-room boutique property in an 1826 building with views of Cap Diamant and the St. Lawrence River. It is small by design and the whole concept is built around privacy, personal service, and a curated experience rather than scale. Rooms feature custom ash and red oak furnishings, original art by Canadian artist Caroline Monnet, gourmet pantries stocked with local products, and a wine cellar added in 2024. Continental breakfast is included daily with product from a local bakery.
Guests also have private access to the gardens and reception rooms of the neighbouring Garnison Club, a members-only venue with over 135 years of civilian and military history. That is a genuinely unusual perk that you are not going to find anywhere else in the city.

Auberge du Trésor | Old Quebec
A 22-room boutique hotel directly across from Chateau Frontenac on Place d’Armes, which is about as central as it gets in Old Quebec. The building dates to 1640, and the brick walls and fieldstone in some of the rooms are original.
It is a smaller, more intimate property that positions itself explicitly as a couples destination, and the location is hard to argue with if you want to be in the absolute heart of Old Quebec without staying at a large chain.
Bistro 1640, the on-site restaurant, takes its name from the building’s construction date and serves a menu of meats and wine with a view of Chateau Frontenac. The Suite 1640 is the flagship room at 32 square metres, bright, with direct Chateau views from Place d’Armes.
